Pirates
Piracy is alive and well as the Clarion has been warning for some while now, and not just in the Straits of Malacca.
Somali pirates (wonder if they self-identify as Somali, esp. since they are reportedly based out of Puntland) released a German cargo ship and their hostages after being paid a ransom Tuesday. The ship was originally seized in the Gulf of Aden on May 28.

that is so cool! i love that off the coast of yemen it's like - "Pirates. Reeeeejected." Only 2 successful and about 12 unsuccessful. Whatever they're doing it's working. But thanks for the interesting link - you are an information powerhouse!!
Thanks for the kind words!
More piracy off of north eastern Somalia, according to the Associated Press, "A Philippine government official says a ship with 20 Filipino sailors has been hijacked. Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Estaban Conejos says the Japanese-owned vessel was seized by pirates on Sunday."
The re-rise of pirates has to be one of the least anticipated consequences of globalism (though one of the Clarion Content's influences, Hardt & Negri, had an inkling back in 2000.)
